Open an Account

Investors wiling to start trading in DFM /ADX should:

  • Obtain Investor Number (IN) from DFM/ADX after completing "Investor Number Form" at the Investor Services Office or with AL Dhafra.
  • Open an account with AL Dhafra using "Account Opening Form".

The following documentations should be appended with "Investor Number Form":

A: Individuals:

  • For UAE nationals:
    • Copy of Passport and Family Registration.
    • Copy of the Driving License (if available).
  • For non-UAE nationals:
    • Copy of (minimum two documents): Passport, Labor Card (For UAE residents), Birth Certificate, and Government Issued ID (ex: Driving License, Social Insurance Card).
  • "Investor Signature Form" completed by the investor/ the agent / the guardian.
  • For a sole proprietor, copies of Trade License and Registration Certificate are required.
  • For a representative (agent), copy of the power of attorney authenticated by a notary public is required in addition to copy of the agent passport.
  • Minor investors (under 21) whose guardians are not their fathers should attach custody documents authenticated by a notary public in addition to copy of the guardian passport.

B: Corporate Bodies

  • Copy of Trade License & Registration Certificate (authenticated by UAE embassy and country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs for non-UAE licensed companies).
  • Copy of the power of attorney of the company's representative, authenticated by a notary public in addition to a copy of the representative's passport.
  • Investor Signature Form completed by the company's representative
  • List of Board of Directors & Partners and their nationalities, INs (if available).

The following documentations should be appended with Account Opening Form:

A: Individuals:

  • For UAE nationals:
    • Copy of Passport and Family Registration.
  • For non-UAE nationals:
    • Copy of (minimum two documents): Passport, Labor Card (For UAE residents), Birth Certificate, and Government Issued ID (ex: Driving License, Social Insurance Card).
  • For a sole proprietor, copies of Trade License and Registration Certificate are required.
  • For a representative (agent), copy of the power of attorney authenticated by a notary public is required in addition to a copy of the representative's passport.
  • Minor investors (under 21) whose guardians are not their fathers should attach custody documents authenticated by a notary public in addition to copy of the guardian passport.
  • For joint account holders, the above documents are required for each person in the account.

B: Corporate Bodies

  • Copy of Trade License & Registration Certificate (authenticated by UAE embassy and country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs for non-UAE licensed companies).
  • Copy of the power of attorney of the company's representative, authenticated a notary public in addition to a copy of the representative's passport.
  • List of Board of Directors & Partners.

Modes of application for IN and Account Opening forms with DFM/ADX:

New investors may fill "Investor Number" and "Account Opening" forms in person in the DFM/ADX or through AL Dhafra.

Personal appearance at DFM/ADX

  • If the investor owns securities of a listed issuer, he should submit the securities certificates to the registrar of the issuer or to CDS office and fill "Investor Number Form" and submit the needed documentations as detailed earlier to obtain his investor number.
  • The investor may then buy securities of listed issuers.
  • The investor should complete "Securities Transfer Between CDS and Broker Form", which is available with Al Dhafra, and we will inform him upon completion of the transfer into his account with that broker.
  • The Investor may then sell his securities via Al Dhafra

Through Al Dhafra (ADX / DFM)

  • If the investor owns securities of a listed issuer, he should submit the securities certificates to the registrar of the issuer or to CDS office and fill "Investor Number Form" and submit the needed documentations as detailed earlier to obtain his investor number.
  • New investor can approach AL Dhafra and fill up the "Investor Number Form" and "Account Opening Form" and submit the needed documentations as detailed earlier.
  • Current investor will need to approach Al Dhafra broker to fill up the "Account Opening Form" only and submit the needed documentations as detailed earlier.
  • "Investor Signature Form" should be filled and authenticated by a bank licensed by UAE Central Bank, a DFM/ADX listed issuer or Al Dhafra.
  • New Investor should authorize in writing Al Dhafra to receive his IN from DFM/ADX on his behalf
  • After receiving the IN and opening an account with AL Dhafra, the investor can buy securities of listed issuers.
  • The investor should complete "Securities Transfer Between CDS and Broker Form", which is available with AL Dhafra, and AL Dhafra will inform him upon completion of the transfer into his account with Al Dhafra.
  • The Investor may then sell his securities via Al Dhafra.

Opening an Account with DGCX

A. Individual/Joint for all Nationals

  • Passport Copies
  • Signed & Completed Customer Agreement
  • Resolution if Joint Account as to who will Operate the account

B Corporate/Sole Proprietor

  • Passport Copies
  • Signed & Completed Customer Agreement
  • Copy of trade license & registration certificate
  • Corporate resolution for the nominated person to handle the account(for corporate)

Initiating Actual Trading

Buying and selling orders can be given to Al Dhafra in person, by filling the "Buy / Sell Order Form" or by phone, fax or online based on the investor agreement with Al Dhafra. All telephone conversations, which are conducted through Al Dhafra telephone lines are recorded and could be used in the event of any dispute between investors and Al Dhafra.

Many options are available and can be utilized in terms of the price limit and validity period.

Al Dhafra process orders of their clients upon their request and securities' transfer takes place automatically by the clearance system.

Payment of the dues arising from buying and selling orders is governed by agreements between AL Dhafra and the client, in accordance with DFM/ADX/DGCX rules and regulations.
